Our
latest design is an integrated satellite/stereo subwoofer design
which uses APIICC (Interaural Differential Correction System),
developed by Chuck McShane, one of the original designers for
Acoustic Research in their heyday of the early sixties. Chuck has
been busy doing consulting and various projects, and a few years ago
developed the technology employed in these speakers. Chuck has
explained this in more detail in a paper
we have available here. We were the first to be a licensed
manufacturer (Fried products is also currently a
licensee).
Now, we know that you have heard the term "breakthrough" enough times to be somewhat cynical, but this technology really works. Some customers have remarked that it is especially useful in apartments were space restrictions and lots of boundary problems hinder full soundstage reproduction.
We have had
a prototype reviewed by Peter Mitchell of Stereophile in May
1994 and remarked it was "the most spatially realistic two-speaker
playback I've heard....the ambient field (was) almost real enough to
touch."
